Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company sits right in the heart of downtown Los Gatos, offering more than just a quick caffeine fix. This spot blends the feel of a classic neighborhood café with the depth of a dedicated coffee roaster, making it a go-to for locals who appreciate thoughtfully brewed coffee and a relaxed atmosphere to settle into.

Inside, the vibe is comfortably welcoming, with plenty of seating both indoors and on the sidewalk, perfect for people-watching or plugging into work with the café’s reliable internet. The steady hum of light conversation and occasional live music adds a warm, communal touch without ever becoming intrusive. It’s the kind of place you’ll find both early risers grabbing their first cup and mid-day visitors relaxing with a pastry between errands.

What stands out here is the quality and variety of their coffee, freshly roasted on-site and rotated regularly to highlight different profiles—from light to dark roasts and an always-respectable decaf option. If you’re particular about your espresso, the range here offers solid choices, including reputation-worthy house specialties like the Cafe Borgia and Mocha Borgia, which incorporate fresh orange notes—a distinctive local twist you won’t find just anywhere.

Pastries and savory bites complement the drinks well, with options that can easily cover breakfast or a light lunch. The croissants, often recommended by regulars, tend to be generously filled—think everything croissant stuffed with egg, Black Forest ham, and cheese—or you can switch things up with crepes showcasing fresh, local ingredients. Sandwiches like the lime chicken avocado bagel or chile verde wrap keep the menu feeling accessible yet thoughtful. If the weather’s damp or chilly, pairing a deviled egg everything croissant with a cappuccino breve creates a cozy, satisfying pause in the day.

This spot attracts a diverse crowd—locals who value a well-made cup, remote workers seeking a dependable internet café, and coffee enthusiasts who come for the beans and stay for the quiet buzz of community. Mornings through early afternoon tend to be the busiest, but the atmosphere remains unhurried whether you’re grabbing a quick pick-me-up or lingering over a late brunch.

For those who want to take home a piece of the experience, freshly roasted beans are available for purchase, carrying the flavors that define the café’s personality right into your own kitchen. Overall, Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company feels like a living part of the neighborhood’s daily rhythm—more neighborhood living room than generic chain—where coffee and connection come naturally.

Wow. The plain black coffee here was as good as a "red-eye" (or a "shot in the dark") anywhere else! We had sandwiches for brunch. The Chile Verde Wrap was very fresh, clearly homemade. Delicious! The VERY large croissant sandwich was stuffed with egg, cheese, and Black Forest Ham. Also delicious! Our server was helpful and courteous.

This coffee shop has been one of my favorites literally for decades. I first learned of it as a great source of coffee beans in the mid 1990s (I loved their La Minita beans which were my go-to for many years). They have a great bakery section with many choices (I enjoy the everything croissant), the coffee bar serves a great cup of Jo, and I love the Borgia Mocha. They have also finally started to make crepes again since stopping during the pandemic. This is still one of the top coffee shops in the bay area and I highly recommend that people give them a try.

I love this cafe. Old soul, wonderful coffee. Neighborhood jewel! Also, the only place that serves cafe Borgia with fresh orange juice and zest. Must try!

Have different varieties of espresso. Nice atmosphere. Have many seatings inside and some outside. Recommending the espresso options. As a separate place inside, they also have pastry stuff. Not favoring the croissant but coffee cakes are reasonable.
